Uranus in Taurus – The Worst Nightmare
We are in January 2024 and we wish all our readers a ‘Happy New Year’. Ukraine and Russia are at war. Israel is dealing very aggressively with its neighbours. Warships under different flags at work in the Red Sea. Iranian military has attacked places in Pakistan, Iraq and Syria. Pakistan has retaliated. Rebels are fighting the military in Burma. China is threatening Taiwan. North Korea is testing weapons and stockpiling for war. Pakistan has spent a sizable portion of the latest issue of financial aid it received, on military hardware. The cost-of-war and its preparation, will push-up the cost-of-living for even those who have nothing to do with the wars. In light of these developments, it doesn’t seem like this will be a ‘happy’ year.
Read this article if you want to know why so many people across the world have chosen to, or seem inclined to fight.
In the conventional system of evaluation used by vedic astrologers for commenting on horoscopes of individuals, the nine planets considered do not include Uranus and Neptune. These two are regarded as outer-planets and are said to influence the society and large groups, more than they influence the individual.
The first reason why the effect of outer planets on individuals seems to be much less than their effect on larger groups like organizations, societies, countries etc. is their relative smaller size and greater distance from the earth, when compared with some inner planets like Saturn and Jupiter. In simple words, if the overall effect of planets on earthly life was directly related to the quotient of their mass and distance from the earth, then the outer planets – Uranus and Neptune, would have a lower quotient of influence.
The second reason why this conclusion has been drawn relates to the time spent by these planets in every zodiac sign. Uranus has a shorter orbit than Neptune. It spends roughly seven years in every sign and completes one revolution around the Sun, covering all twelve (12) signs, in roughly eighty-four (84) years. This implies that for seven (7) straight years, by virtue of its position in one (1) sign only, Uranus will continue to give the same results to an individual. This, astrologers know from experience, is not true. With its entry into a sign, Uranus loosely fixes for each individual, a broad and important area of focus / action/ involvement/ responsibility/ concern for a seven-year period. But the expected results of its occupancy of a particular sign may not always show very prominently on the life of every individual because within these seven (7) years, more impactful changes and events contradicting the effect of Uranus’ position, may be experienced as a consequence of changes in positions of relatively faster moving planets like Saturn and Jupiter, which being closer to the earth have a greater quotient of influence on earthly life. Still, we urge the readers to quickly decide for themselves whether changing of signs by Uranus had any (major) impact on their lives in the last few decades. The following table shows where and for how long, Uranus was posited in the last forty years. In our opinion, some readers will be able to spot a prominent change in the situations/environments that they found themselves in and the people they dealt with, at the start of some of Uranus’ sign-change-years or 1 year prior to the sign-change year.

In our opinion, by observing and comparing results experienced during the transits of Uranus and Neptune, through particular zodiac signs, we can easily conclude that these outer planets have considerable influence on earthly life. The primary objective of this article is to highlight the connection between some important events from history and the positions taken-up by the four ‘slow-moving’ planets – Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in some particular zodiac signs. The term ‘slow-moving’ has been used to address planets that take longer than a decade to complete one revolution around the Sun.
Pluto has been omitted from the scope of this analysis / discussion due to its quotient of influence being almost negligible when compared with those of the four slow-moving planets that lie between Pluto and Earth.
As has already been stated, Uranus takes an average of seven (7) years to traverse through one zodiac sign and completes one revolution around the sun in about eighty-four (84) years. In the current cycle, Uranus will enter Taurus in 2024. Modern India, having got independence in 1947, will be about seventy-seven (77) years old at that time. The purpose of stating both – the time taken by Uranus to complete one revolution, and the year of India’s independence, is to establish that independent India has not experienced a ‘Uranus in Taurus’ period yet.
Why Uranus, why Taurus and why India?
Uranus is regarded as a planet that combines the destructive qualities of the two most dreaded planets in astrology – Saturn (Shani) and Mars (Mangal). India, because the ascending sign in independent India's horoscope is Taurus and in some of our previous articles, we have elaborately explained the importance of the ascending sign. Taurus, because it is regarded as the debilitation sign for Uranus and it is here that it creates maximum trouble.
What kind of trouble?
The worst kind, where large scale loss of life and property is seen. This happens because from its position in Taurus, Uranus aspects Scorpio, which falls in the eighth-house of the natural zodiac. Scorpio is a watery sign and that makes it more receptive to the effects of Uranus’ malefic aspect, because by natural disposition, water is easily disturbed and takes some time to return to original poise even after the disturbance has ceased. To understand this better, the reader should think of how ripples continue to show on the surface, much after a small pebble thrown into a pond has settled at the bottom. The eighth-house of the Kaal-Purush or the natural zodiac, which rules over life-span of earthly beings, becomes severely affected by Uranus’ malefic aspect. This results in unnatural deaths on a mammoth scale.
Imagine how disturbed the pond will be when the pebble throwing activity doesn’t stop for seven (7) years.
Uranus in Taurus - Last 3 Cycles
To help corroborate this claim of large-scale deaths as a consequence of Uranus’ aspect on Scorpio, we urge the reader to subtract eighty-four (84) from 2024. The year they arrive at, will give the previous entry-time of Uranus in Taurus. Adding seven to this new figure, will give its exit-year. We believe there is no need to remind anybody of what happened in India, as well as around the world, between the years 1940 and 1947. The tempo of the freedom struggle in India certainly went-up during this period and resulted in achievement of the desired goal - Independence.
Non-believers in astrology, even if they do agree about the timing of Uranus’s Taurus entry, may find this absurd and say this has no chance of being repeated. To give such people more supporting evidence, let us go back further and do another check. If we subtract the double of eighty-four (84), i.e. 168, from 2024, we get 1856. This was Uranus’ entry-year in Taurus in the cycle prior to that of 1940, and 1863 was the exit year.
It is very unlikely that this period between 1856 and 1863 will NOT ring a bell for anyone from the Indian subcontinent. History-books, poetry-books, films and plays are loaded with information about the unmistakably conspicuous events that transpired between these years of Indian history.
For those readers who haven’t yet been able to correlate Uranus’ position in Taurus with large scale unnatural deaths of war-victims and maniacal behavior of war-perpetrators, let us pull-up one more example to help them see the ‘effect of the cause’. This time we subtract the triple of eighty-four, which is two-hundred and fifty-two, (252) from 2024 to arrive at 1772. This was Uranus’ entry-year in Taurus and the exit-year was 1779. This period saw the start of the American War of Independence, Pugachev’s peasant revolt in Russia and Anglo-Maratha wars in India.
It would be hard for any rational individual to NOT SEE the similarities between the events, during the last three stints Uranus has had in Taurus. Wars are fought, for independence of nations and of people subdued by oppressors. In our three observations, we find the first sojourn of Uranus in Taurus resulted in the American War of Independence, the largest ever peasant revolt in Russia and resistance against the British in India. The second resulted in an agitation for India’s independence which took the form of an almost nation-wide war in 1857 and the third gave a final and successful agitation for Indian independence and also the ghastliest war in human history, which was fought for the independence of several Axis-occupied countries, in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
We hope the reader has now understood what the reason behind the aggressive posturing of militaries around the globe is. It is Uranus’ occupation of Taurus.
It is noteworthy that the British have been found at the receiving end of this Taurus-Uranus menace in its last three cycles, in America, in India and then in Europe for the early part of the Second World War. Purely to show an unmistakable connection between Uranus, Taurus and Britain, we take the reader back to Uranus’ Taurus-transit prior to 1772. This was in 1688, when as a result of Uranus coming to Taurus, Britain became a constitutional monarchy after the ‘Glorious Revolution’.
The Real Reason
So far, we’ve seen the effect of Uranus’ Taurus occupation. If we dig deeper to find the reason behind the outbreak of wars at this time, we will find it is greed and desire for expansion. This is so because Uranus, jointly with Saturn, rules over the sign - Aquarius, which falls in the eleventh-house of the natural zodiac. The eleventh-house signifies gains, profit, expansion and enlargement. It is the third house of the – ‘kaam’ category. The word ‘kaam’ here means desire. There are, in all, four categories into which the twelve houses in a horoscope are divided. These categories are – ‘dharm’, ‘arth’, ‘kaam’ and ’moksh’. The categorization is simple and the first four houses of the horoscope are put into each of the above-mentioned categories in the given order. Then the next four in the same order re-starting with ‘dharm’ and the remaining four are also similarly categorized. So, the third, seventh and the eleventh houses fall in the ‘kaam’ category. The inherent strength of every successive house in a category is believed to be more than the previous house of the same category, i.e. the seventh house has a stronger influence on the thoughts and behavior of a person than the third house, and the eleventh house has more influence than the seventh. This makes the eleventh house, the strongest among the ‘kaam’ or ‘desire’ houses.
Statisticians will tell you that all frequency-distributions or data-sets are ‘bell-curves’ in the long-term. This, in simple words, means all entities go through the phases of growth, maturity and decline. After the growth or expansion stage is over, there is some stabilization and then the decline starts. The three stages drawn together on a graph-sheet, give the appearance of a bell, hence the name ‘bell-curve’.
As lord of Aquarius, which forms the eleventh-house of the natural zodiac, when Uranus occupies the second-house, wherein lays Taurus, it brings the strongest desire for expansion into the house of accumulated wealth. This should ideally make wealth grow, but it doesn’t. That’s because, Taurus is the debilitating-sign for Uranus and a debilitated planet rarely does any good to the house it is posited in. Uranus is a natural malefic and its presence in the house of accumulated-wealth does not increase wealth. It does the opposite. And the decrease in wealth is significant.
This is where the ‘decline’ of the curve starts. In the process of the making unsuccessful efforts to increase wealth in Taurus, Uranus aspects and disturbs Scorpio, which falls in the eighth-house of life-span, causing unnatural death and destruction. So, it’s not just Scorpio that loses. Taurus, the sign that hosts the greed, also loses.
In lay-man terms, with the entry of Uranus in Taurus, the ‘villain’, in his normal course of villainy, starts to run-out of luck. But he won’t go down without a fight and will take several others with him.
We leave it to the reader’s imagination to derive the relevant explanation of how the last few sentences capture the essence of reasons for the wars fought during the last three Taurus-Uranus periods.
Why India Should be Concerned
In 2024, Uranus’s transit through Taurus, particularly for India, becomes more important than it was in the previous three cycles because Taurus happens to be the ascending sign in independent India’s horoscope. The ascending sign or the ascendant is the first house of the horoscope and it represents the person/entity whose horoscope it is. In our earlier articles we have already stated why the importance of the ascendant can never be over-emphasized. While making predictions, astrologers see where the problem causing planet(s) are posited. The seat of problem causing planets indicates the source and origin of the problem. During the period under review, the chief problem-creator will position itself in Taurus. And so, entities that have a Taurus ascendant, are likely to be the ‘source of the problem’ that will plague the people and region around them, for the said seven (7) year period.
The second reason why Indians must be worried is that India’s mahadasha (major-period) of Mars will begin in 2025. This mahadasha will continue till 2032 and six-years out of these seven, will fall inside the Taurus-Uranus period. ‘Mangal karwaye dangal’ is the saying astrologers use jokingly, to convey what Mars is likely to do at some point in its dasha. The saying literally translates to – 'Mars will make you wrestle'.
This is to be taken seriously in India’s case because Mars being lord of the seventh-house in India’s horoscope, is a ‘marak’ or a planet entrusted with the responsibility of killing. Even when the ‘marak’ planet does not cause death, it gives ‘mrityu-tulya-kasht’ or extremely painful and humiliating experiences which are comparable to death. Mars’ other lordship in the horoscope is that of the twelfth house, which signifies finality, rest, death, loss, expenditure and unproductive activity. So, just by virtue of lordship, Mars forebodes trouble for India.
In mundane astrology, the second-house signifies wealth of the nation, revenues of the state and ability of the nation to spend money. Due to both, Mars’ ownership of malevolent houses, and its inherent malefic nature, its placement in the second-house will result in major damage to the accumulated wealth of the country, revenue inflows and purchasing power of the people. Prima-facie, the reason for this will be military expenditure and action, because Mars is the planet of war. In the hierarchy of planets, its position is that of the commander-in-chief. It is considered the worst-malefic because it burns, destroys, kills, ruins, and reduces options and future-possibilities by rendering ‘bridges’ unusable. Irreversible exothermic changes are brought about by Mars. At many points during its seven-year dasha, the possibility of life in India coming to an absolute standstill is very real. We saw a small trailer of what Mars is capable of doing in the last quarter of 2016.
Another important signification of the second-house in conventional astrology – is family. In the context of a nation, family would mean the states and provinces that collectively form the nation. With the kind of damage Mars is likely to cause to the second house or ‘family’, it won’t be surprising if due to a major dispute, some of the ‘family members’ decide to drop the family name and break away. If that happens, Mars will justify its ‘marak’ or ‘death-inflictor’ tag, because the nation as we know it now, will cease to exist.
And finally, if we put together the two reasons why India should be extremely worried about the next Taurus-Uranus period, the picture becomes clearer and scarier. As has been stated already, Mars rules over India’s seventh-house. The sign that falls in India’s seventh-house is Scorpio, which will be under aspect from Uranus. And this aspect of Uranus on Scorpio is likely to cause significantly more death and destruction than has been seen in the past, because Scorpio will be more receptive and sensitive to the aspect due to the ongoing dasha of Mars. The results of this aspect will become apparent with the onset of Mars’ dasha. The reader might ask – Death and destruction of whom? To which we say – Death and destruction of adversaries and partners because Scorpio falls in the seventh-house that signifies adversaries as well as partners. Obviously, the adversary too will retaliate. It won’t be a cake-walk for either party.
With this portion of the article, we have delivered on the promise we made in our previous article, of giving our readers more information about the possibility of ‘special events’ being hosted by Mars’ dasha.
Neptune
Now that we have answered the questions – Why Uranus, why Taurus and why India, let us also look at what role Neptune had to play in the conjuring of the stated wars.
Neptune is a planet that rules over water, especially the open seas. It takes roughly fourteen years to traverse through one zodiac sign and completes one revolution around the Sun in about one-hundred and sixty-eight years. This is twice the time taken by Uranus to complete its revolution. After a minute of thought over the resultant effect of Neptune’s speed vis-à-vis Uranus, the reader will conclude that Neptune was roughly in the same place, during the 1772 and the 1940 cycles. The reader is correct; in 1772 and in 1940, Uranus was in Virgo, a sign that among other things signifies disputes and conflicts.
In the 1850s, when the first war of Indian independence was fought, Neptune having just entered Pisces, was half-way to Virgo. The sign Pisces being the twelfth house of the natural zodiac, signifies losses, waste, and unproductive ventures, along with the other significations mentioned earlier. At a sentimental level it would be a little harsh to say that the lives laid down by freedom-fighters in an attempt to liberate India in 1857 were wasted, but a purely objective, detached and neutral evaluation from a military perspective will show just that. The British were able to subdue the rebellion and rule India for another 90 years.
Neptune entered Pisces in 2022 and will remain there till 2036. It is again likely to make Uranus’s war effort between 2024 and 2031, an unproductive venture like the one in 1857, but, it is indeed worrisome that the world will face a very real possibility of a historic war being fought.
After positions of Uranus and Neptune, let us now review the positions of the other two ‘heavy-weight’ planets, which in every vedic astrologer’s opinion, shape the milestone events of every life on earth. Without their consent, no major development in life takes place. These two are Saturn and Jupiter.
Saturn
Saturn is a planet that represents the masses – the civilian population. It so happens that for about five years out of the seven, for which the next Taurus-Uranus situation will prevail, Saturn’s position matches with its position during the Second World War, from its start in September 1939, till April in 1944. It is worth mentioning here, that no other period in recorded human history (before the 2020 Corona pandemic) has witnessed as many deaths, civilian or military, as these five years have. For about half of this fifty-six-month period, Saturn was in Taurus along with Uranus and from there both these heavy-weight malefics were casting their evil aspects on Scorpio. The effect of malefic aspects on Scorpio has already been stated. Roughly, 1942 onwards, the effect had doubled. It is indeed sad that this deadly combination will reappear in the upcoming Uranus-Taurus cycle. In the two Uranus-Taurus cycles before the 1940s, Saturn was in relatively better positions, away from the destructive presence of Uranus, and that is why perhaps there was a considerably smaller loss of civilian lives in those wars.
Jupiter
Now let us look at Jupiter’s role. During the first ‘Taurus-Uranus’ period being discussed, Jupiter was placed in signs between Pisces and Virgo (signs 12 to 6). During the next two cycles, it was occupying signs from Aries to Libra (signs 1 to 7). The common signs occupied by Jupiter in all three cycles are the six from Aries to Virgo (signs 1-6). In the next cycle, i.e. between 2024 and 2031, Jupiter will occupy five out of the six signs falling in this Aries-Virgo arc. Those five signs will be Taurus to Virgo (signs 2-6)
Before going forward, let us summarize whatever has been said so far. The following is an attempt to tabulate information about planetary positions and their consequences, so as to give a gist of the article.

The above table clearly shows – between 2024 and 2031, the four slow moving planets from Neptune to Jupiter, will be in positions wherefrom they have previously failed in both – ending ongoing armed conflicts and preventing the start of new ones.
It must be amply clear by now that this article predicts with enough proof and ‘astro’ logic that at-least one historic war is on the cards. The two reasons why India stands at great risk have also been stated.
In the present day, nations have not been colonized in the same way as in the three previous centuries, so a war for independence like before is less likely. But a revolution or a revolutionary-war against oppressors subverting democratic process, is a very real possibility.
If you read the newspapers in India, you will understand what we mean by ‘subversion of democracy’.
After the entry of Uranus into Aries in 2016, the situation in India started to look somewhat like the one when the Third-Reich was consolidating power and taking absolute control of Germany. Many parallels can be drawn between Nazi-Germany of the 1930s and BJP-ruled India of the present times. It is not a coincidence that Uranus spent the years between 1933 and 1940 in the same zodiac-sign that it was occupying between 2016 and 2023. That sign was Aries. The current state of affairs is worrisome because India is supposed to be the largest democracy and it has shown unmistakable signs of being affected by the Uranus-Aries transit, which is a pre-cursor to the Uranus-Taurus situation.
Major media-houses becoming mouth-pieces of the state, judges of the Indian Supreme Court holding a press conference to expose government’s interference in judicial proceedings, authorized use of government machinery to stifle dissent, antagonization of minority communities, concerted efforts of infusing ideas of cultural-supremacy amongst a particular set of the population to garner support, use of media created war-hysteria to win elections, questions over the functioning of the election commission and the judiciary remaining unaddressed, revocation of J&K statehood through questionable application of the law, grant of unquestionable powers to SS styled, center-controlled agencies for keeping opposition in check, unnecessary and deliberate levy of heavier taxes, use of money and muscle to topple non-BJP state governments, suspension of opposition MPs before enactment of new laws to circumvent the discussion and debate process, are a few examples of how some results of the Aries-Uranus transit (2016-2023) have been in-line with precedents set by the Nazi party, eighty-four (84) years back.
The election commission with its use of dubious electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the apathy of the Supreme Court in putting to rest, the doubts and suspicion of the opposition, on the use and functioning of EVMs, indicate they have a bias on the side of the current government. This stance of the two constitutional institutions (the EC and the SC) has made it a hopeless situation for the opposition because they cannot win any election. The opposition is convinced that the refusal of the EC to make the election procedure auditable, and the result-declaration-process more transparent, is in a way, a confirmation of some malpractice that requires closer inspection and correction.
These are the exact conditions in which the foundations of revolutions are laid.
In each of the great wars and revolutions that took place during the previous Uranus-Taurus periods, at least one side was fighting for its independence and democratic-rights. The same should be expected this time too.
Independent India’s ascending sign will host Uranus for seven (7) years. Add to that the likely consequences of Mars’ dasha. It will definitely be a hot-spot / action-area.
India is a nuclear-power and is flanked on two-sides by two others, both of whom, it has fought with earlier. The Indian sub-continent along with China, is the world’s most densely-populated region. Should a nuclear-war take place, loss of civilian-life will be on an unprecedented scale. 2024 has started, and the ‘policemen’ of the world and other concerned entities will have to seriously think about how things can be brought back on track for this region.
Militaries around the globe are already in the alert mode, some are even fighting. Decision-making soldiers in militaries, especially those of democratic countries, must think about how things can be prevented from becoming worse, because if ongoing conflicts don’t end, or if new ones start, they will have to continue / do the fighting, and there is a 50% chance that they will do so on the orders of a greedy, autocratic, oppressive and unscrupulous government which aims to either use military-exploits to gain support/votes, or to crush a rebellion by those fighting for their democratic / constitutional rights. They will have to choose between their conventional stance of being 'apolitical' and the righteous stance of being 'accountable to the tax-payer'. A 'clouded-judgement' by decision-making soldiers might ultimately result in the world witnessing the dreaded 'mushroom-clouds' which ended the Second World War, again. (Saturn and Uranus will be together in Taurus)
‘Intelligence agencies’ of the world will also have to collaborate for keeping-in-check the ‘dumb-agencies’ and rogue-armies, who want to use war to stay in power, or are creating an environment conducive for a rebellion by using or allowing the use of, muscle and money to subvert democratic processes. ‘Intelligence’ will be of no use, if either of those things happen, because both outcomes can easily make the ‘worst nightmare’ come true.
Closing line for this article is – A good prediction is not one that comes true, but one that forewarns, prepares and either altogether prevents an untoward happening or greatly reduces its impact.
